First Church in Jaffrey Candlelight Service
On Monday, December 24, the annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service features traditional readings and carols led by Rev. Robin Lunn. Under the direction of Gene Faxon, Minister of Music, the service will include special instrumental and choral music. It will close with “Silent Night” sung by all in the candle-lighted sanctuary. Come early because this service is very popular with families, neighbors, and friends of the church. All are invited to a reception in the Parish House following the service.
First Church has been decorated for Advent with poinsettias, wreaths, candles in the windows, and a “gratitude tree.” The altar displays a creche made in Zimbabwe given to First Church decades ago by the Rev. Daniel Leavitt and Lois Leavitt who had dedicated their time to education and ministry in that country.
On Sunday December 23, the weekly Sunday worship, led by Rev. Robin, will reflect the theme for Advent this year, “The Light is surely coming” and feature festive music for the season. A special Christmas offering will benefit the Jaffrey Food Pantry, the Jaffrey Emergency Fund, and the Jaffrey Rindge Ambulance Service.
