Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce
Second Annual Poker Run!
The Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce will be holding its second annual motorcycle poker run on Sunday, July 12, 2009. A poker run is a pre-determined ride with 5 stops, including the starting and ending points. At every stop, riders receive a card from an ordinary deck of playing cards. The object of the ride is to build a poker hand. Prizes are awarded to the holder of the best hand, and other categories determined ahead of time.
Grand Prize - 16gb iPod Touch and a chance to win a trip for two to the Sturgis*
*Every rider gets a chance to win a trip for two to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally! Prize value $10,000 or cash equivalent.
This event is a fundraiser for the Chamber, with a portion of the money raised going to the Marty Taylor Scholarship Fund.
Marty Taylor was a native of Jaffrey. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast since childhood and later became a certified motorcycle mechanic in Orlando, Florida where he and his wife lived for a short time. On September 18th, 2006, Marty was struck by a motorist while riding and tragically died. In his memory, members of his family started the scholarship. 2007 was the first year it was awarded. It is designated for a Conant High School graduate who wishes to pursue further education in a technical or vocational related field.
