Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce
First Annual Poker Run!
The Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce will be holding its first annual motorcycle poker run on Saturday, July 12, 2008. A poker run is a pre-determined ride with 5 stops, including the starting and ending points. At every stop, riders receive a card from an ordinary deck of playing cards. The object of the ride is to build a poker hand. Prizes are awarded to the holder of the best hand, and other categories determined ahead of time. This event is a fundraiser for the Chamber, with a portion of the money raised going to the Marty Taylor Scholarship Fund.
Marty Taylor was a native of Jaffrey. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast since childhood and later became a certified motorcycle mechanic in Orlando, Florida where he and his wife lived for a short time. On September 18th, 2006, Marty was struck by a motorist while riding and tragically died. In his memory, members of his family started the scholarship. Last year was the first year it was awarded. It is designated for a Conant High School graduate who wishes to pursue further education in a technical or vocational related field.
The run will start at NH Moto-sports at 15 Sears Drive off of Rt. 202 in Rindge. Get directions here. It is approximately 100 miles and will end at the Monadnock Rod & Gun Club (http://www.mrgci.com/index.html) on rt 202 on the Jaffrey/Peterborough line.
Registration fees: $20.00 per rider and $10.00 per passenger.
Lunch and entertainment will be provided.
Contact the Chamber at 532-4549 for additional information on the ride or for sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.
This is a great event! How do I help?
