The 31st Annual MHS Walk for Animals - Healthy Pets, Healthy People!
The 31str Annual MHS Walk for Animals Healthy Pets, Healthy People!
Monadnock Humane Society (MHS) is pleased to announce that its 31st Annual Walk for Animals will take place on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine (sign in begins at 9 a.m.). This year the Walk will return to the Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport - a venue that is made possible by the kind support of the City of Keene and Town of Swanzey. The theme for the 31st Walk for Animals is "Healthy Pets, Healthy People!" - highlighting the health benefits of the animal-human bond.
The Walk for Animals is a crowdfunding event. In the weeks leading up to the Walk itself, animal lovers in the community ask family, friends, coworkers, colleagues - everyone they know - to sponsor them (all money raised goes towards the care of the homeless animals of our community). On Saturday, September 21, everyone walks a maximum of three miles together on a scenic paved road at the airport that is accessible for all. Walkers may choose whatever distance they prefer (with or without a leashed dog). Walkers who raise $50.00 or more will receive a beautiful Walk for Animals T-shirt that features a new Walk for Animals logo designed by local artist Jade Harmon, as well as a delicious vegan lunch created and served by he award-winning Country Life Restaurant of Keene.
A celebration party takes place immediately after the Walk. The party reaches full swing at noon with music provided by a deejay, a vendor village to visit, a meet-and-greet with therapy pet teams, dog demonstrations to watch (including Puppy Play and Flyball), games to play (Puppy Poop Bingo and more), and many other fun things to do. Each Walker can fill a tote bag with goodies and coupons donated from many local businesses. MHS Wagtime Dog Grooming will be available for nail clips ($10) from 11:00 am - noon, and appointments can be made for sanitary clips (feet/face/fanny - $15) from noon to 1:00 pm.
