103rd First Church Summer Fair
The First Church in Jaffrey celebrates 103 years of summer fun and bargains for all ages with its annual Fair on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. 1 to 4 PM in and around the 1775 Jaffrey Meetinghouse, Route 124 at Laban Ainsworth Way in Jaffrey Center. Enjoy a gourmet lunch featuring fresh fruit salads, vegetable lasagna, and homemade rolls at noon in the air-conditioned Parish House. During the Fair hours, a Snack Bar sells hot dogs and drinks.
The Fair offers something for everyone. Admission is free. Check out homemade delicacies from the Bakery. Visit the garden center which features plants, tools, and planters. Other venues include art, “white elephants,” antiques and collectibles, jewelry, fine linens, furniture, small electronics, tools, and a silent auction.
At the Children’s Fair, kids can play games to win prizes, decorate cupcakes, test their strength, find treasures to buy, ride in an antique car, and more. Tickets for games are still 25 cents.
This event depends on roughly 100 volunteers to set up, sort, sell, park cars, and clean up. While the church’s congregation plans and organizes the Fair, two-thirds of the workers come from the wider community.
Funds raised help support more than one dozen local social service organizations and two scholarships for Conant HS graduates.
