| It is a privilege to be part of your childs life. MCELC strives to provide an environment in which children can experience the excitement, the wonder, and the joy of growing up. Every child is treated with respect and kindness and his/her uniqueness and individuality is both honored and celebrated. Children learn through play and hands on real life experiences. Our teachers provide developmentally appropriate experiences which focus on the whole child; physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. Opportunities for growth are provided through the use of developmentally appropriate activities and materials. Hands on experiences, which are concrete, real world, and sensory in nature, are provided daily. Rather than simply talking to the children about concepts, our teachers provide the children with opportunities to learn though manipulation of real materials, children learn best when actively involved. The main objective of MCELC is to provide a safe and stimulating environment which will help children develop within themselves the foundation of positive habits, attitudes, skills, and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. The specific goals for the children who attend MCELC are: " To develop a positive attitude toward school and learning. " To develop self-esteem. " To build a habit of concentration for life-long study skills. " To develop and foster an active curiosity. " To develop habits of initiative and persistence. " To foster inner discipline and a sense of order. " To develop sensory motor skills in order to sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge. " To develop socially acceptable behavior. " To acquire the basic skills necessary for a lifetime of learning. " To help develop each childs innate ultimate potential through high self-expectations. |
